This album kinda sucks imo not gonna lie. Its not that bad but it’s just not that memorable. It’s a pretty meh album, only decent aspect about it being that it’s very good for set dressing. A good example would be for when you invite the homies over at your crib for a round of Monopoly and recreational drugs and you need not-so-chill but still pretty chill music so to not push that homie with his heart condition over the edge. That’s pretty much it.

        I guess there are some “banging” tracks like “Sunspots”, “You know what you are?”, “Beside you in time”, but until you get to those good ones you will be snoring louder than a goddamn lawnmower. Well, you can skip the rest and get straight to those ones, but why should you skip almost an entire album only to get to some songs that are, at most, Ok? I mean, even these tracks bang as hard as a pair of thrown underwear hitting the ground so I'm not even sure if its even worth it.

       This album is so bad, listening to it is like drinking stale Dr. Pepper without the sugar. At that point you might as well drink spit, whether its your own or somebody else’s, it doesn’t matter, you would be having more fun than listening to this album either way. (extra fun if its sexually gratifying). In this one Trent Reznor did that thing again, where he “opened the pages of his diary” and told us more of his personal experiences, which is not a bad thing but I think it was poorly executed here and the problem is that I’m not even sure what criticism I can offer here except that the songs themselves are fundamentally composed to sound like snooze-fests, which again, its not a bad thing, but Its just done in a very underwhelming way, like, Its not bombastic enough (like any other NIN song) to get me out of my bed in the morning but it doesn't put me in a mood either, it's just boring, so much so it doesn't even put the "depresso in your espresso" but it just puts the "taediosus in your linginquus". I dunno it just sux.

      For its failure, I guess that in general critics of NIN had some certain expectations for when it came to this one because "Its NIN and therefore it has to violate our ears with industrial-based electronic melodies while Reznor is screaming in the background louder than a six year old child" which it does and then its stops doing that and puts us to sleep.

TL;DR to spare you the time, if I have to describe the album in a single word it would be "boring"

Yeah so that’s that, the album for me is a solid 6.457/10  pretty meh but i think that it is not shit, go listen to it atleast for once and see if you can like it more
